Default Dynamic Block - Table Look Up and text insert based on stretch

    Hi All,
I'm fairly new to DB's and have yet to learn table lookups within DB's. I believe what I am looking to achieve would be possible, however before spending too much time, I figured I'd ask the experts their advice. I'm looking for a block that will stretch and the text showing in the block will update based on paramaters indicated in a lookup table. The one I've shown in the sample below is just a basic example of what I'm looking for and I would obviously increase it's complexity once I've learned how to do it. If anyone could share some insight into, first, whether it's feasible and secondly, how to get started (links to examples or documentation on how to accomplish?), it would be greatly appreciated. Seems to be an obsene amount of information within the forums...impressed by everyone's knowledge!
    thanks in advance!

Post your block with your attempt. Always a good starting point.
I suspect that this can be done with a Double Lookup or may a Block Properties Table but would need a little time to work it out.

Be Careful - All those spans may be changing after January 1st or the next time your locality goes thru a building code cycle.

Thanks clshade! I've attached my block, however without any use of a lookup / block properties table. You can see I have set up two items that require input...joist spacing for one (attribute) and bridging options via visibility states. I would love if this information was able to be automatically inputed based on the distance between the two nodes (extents of distance 1 from previous image).
    thoughts? and thanks again!
