AutoCAD Application has stopped working!

I'm a newbie to this site so be kind. AutoCAD MEP 2013 gives me the error message "AutoCAD Application has stopped working". I've loaded, reloaded, updated, cussed, screamed, cried and pounded my fist. Nothing works, I have a new computer with all bells & whistles Windows 8 64 bit. It'll let me start (1) time, the 2nd time I try to start I get that blasted error message!

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Or any suggestions?

Welcome aboard. First thing which strikes me - is AutoCAD MEP 2013 certified to run on Windows 8? Its a *very* new OS and many non-Microsoft programs of any significant complexity aren't certified for it yet. Doesn't mean they won't run at all but may experience installation errors, run time errors, and the like.

Does it provide you with an error code when it locks up?

Just out of curiosity, have you applied Service Pack 1? According to the ReadMe, there were crashes when closing the program that should be rectified by the installation (only assuming that it's related because maybe it's crashing when you close and thereby preventing the opening?).

Sorry, that's my only suggestion, as I'm running my MEP suite on Windows XP (please don't laugh).
