Default Fonts Not Showing in Text Style Box

I have recently copied several .shx files to the default Fonts folder referenced by the Support File Search Path but they do not show up in the Text Style dialog box. I have restarted ACAD a couple times and even re-booted my computer. Any suggestions?

Probably shape files which have the same extension. Do they show up as fonts on another computer?

One very strange behavior I saw once was that AutoCAD would *not* see font files if they had been compressed. This will happen if you do a Disk Cleanup operation and the fonts get compressed. They'll show up in the explorer as blue files in the listing. It's one more thing to check.

One way to test is to use the LOAD command in AutoCAD.
    Pick the SHX file.
If it is a font file, you will get this message: "xxxx.SHX is a normal text font file, not a shape file."
Otherwise it will load the selected .shx file and you'll know it's a "shape" file, not a font.
