What is this drawing no? Is it a title block attribute? Could you attach a drawing as an example?
DEAR Tom Beauford
I HAVE ATTACHED THE TITLE BLOCK. PLEASE CHECK THE ATTACHED DWG.
THANKS.
Problem is your DWG. No. is just text on a layout. It would be a different object on each layout. There's just no way to reliably reference it. There are several ways to do this that work very well.
I would use Drawing Properties and the Express Tool menu => File Tools => Update Drawing Property Data. The Express Tool allows you to create & edit Templates you can add as many custom properties as you like along with defaults. After you can update the properties of the current drawing or a specified folder of drawing files. Then use a field in the template that references DWG. No., DRAWING TITLE, REV., DATE, etc... as custom properties instead of text.
Curious as to why you wish to put the DWG. No. as part of the Layout name? Are the DWG. No's different for each layout?
You say you have a lot of viewports, do you mean a lot of layouts or just one layout with a lot of viewports?
Hope that helps,
Dear Tom thanx for reply. i have more then 50 layouts in one drawing. i have master key plan an i devide this into parts.
therefor i want to make line between dwg no and layout name.
i want, when i change dwg no automatically change layout name as will.
is this possible with field.
Regard.
Jamal
No two layouts can have the same name so the DWG. No. could only be part of the layout name. Still want to know why you would want the layout name to be the same as the DWG. No.? Just trying to figure out exactly what you want. There may be an easy way to get what you need. Layout names are typically descriptive of what's on the layout like 'Site Plan' or 'Details'.
sheet set manager is the route to take on this. It gives you ONE place to manage sheet numbers and layout names, which can then be referenced by fields in your titleblock
