I've tried doing it with building pads, as it is possible to schedule cut volumes with them. I've made a new phase that slots in after Existing phase and before New Construction and hoped that the building pad would stay in this phase then be demolished in new construction phase which will then allow me to create a new building pad for the floors, seeing as they would overlap where the foundations are. But had no luck, the moment I create a new graded toposurface in the new construction phase, the building pad moves to this phase. I have tried to move it back to the excavation phase, but it still only shows in the new construction phase.
Yes, it is possible with building pads, but you don't need to worry about creating phases. It is done automatically. Basically, you have a site, then you use "Graded Region" on it, using the first option of creating another site exactly as the existing. Revit takes care of the necessary settings about "demolished", phase,... Then, run a schedule of topography, including Cut, Fill, Net, etc. It is good to include the Comments parameter, also, and enter a name for each item, so that you can identify all the topography items in the schedule.
Another alternative, in cases where you want to schedule just the excavation volume of isolated footings, is to multiply the area of the footing times the elevation at bottom, as a calculated value in a schedule of structural foundations.
Im attempting to calculate the volume for wall(strip) foundations, which seems like it wont allow the 'elevation at bottom' option.
And what would happen in the case of a toposurface with a significant slope? Would you then use and average depth of the foundation?
Yes, the wall foundation has the "elevation at bottom". So you just need to multiply that x length x width, in a schedule of structural foundation.
About calculating that in a significant slope, then the only tool in that case is the topography schedule, as explained before.
