Revit Keyboard Shortcuts

If you like to use the Keyboard Shortcuts in Revit its not easy to remember them all. So to help everyone out I have put together a simply A4 sheet you can download print off and put on your desk then you don't need to try and remember everyone.

Translation from English to American: A4 = 8.5 x 11 (approximately)

It's the metric standard office correspondance sheet size. It's based on the square root of 2. An interesting history of metric sheet sizes can be found at:

Or to make it super easy, and avoid wasting paper that you'll probably never look at again, hit the "Alt" key, and the hotkey for each tab will show up on top of that tab in the ribbon. Then hit the letter for the appropriate tab, and the two-letter hotkey for each tool will show up. Hit "Alt" again to make them go away, or start using a tool.

Technically these are "Keytips". A part of Windows compliant implmentation. Using Keytips you can navigate the interface without a mouse, but you still have to navigate through the interface. They are NOT keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts execute a command directly from Revit without the need for the UI. It is a slight technical difference but worth mentioning.

Thanks for correcting me, Jeff. Sorry for being misleading. I always thought they were the hotkeys (which would make more sense than keytips, in my opinion).

Shortcut, keytip whatever.........

I shared it with my team. Most of them loved it. One guy, slightly dislexic, is dancing around the room over this new find.

Revit is bottomless. Always a new discovery around the corner.
