    Question Different NWD Format?

    Hello together,
do someone know the differences between the NWD formats?
For Explanation: we use actually the NWD 2010 format, because some the nwd is created by a software which can only export NWD 2010.
If the NWD file is to big or has too much elements, than our workstation (32bit!!!) can not open it. So I'm searching for a solution. If the NWD 2012 is more compact, than I would save as.

    Best regards

    Hi cibo-cad

I don't believe there is any real differance in the compression rate in the file size for .NWD files over the past few releases.
There is only slight coding changes between the save versions. The version you save to is more dependent of the reader version of Navisworks your consultants have.

At this day and age no one dealing with 3d files should be on 32 bit computers. Robust versions of a 64bit OS have now been out for more than 4 years.

NWD files are quite compact in comparision to many cad files. I think its long over due to upgraid your hardware.

    +1 on Brian's post.

MORE POWER!! Get the biggest and baddest computer you can and stuff it to the max with the fastest ram you can find.

There are also quite a few differences between 32 and 64 bit operating systems in how they deal with ram and how much they allow your CPU to use.

Changing versions of Navisworks to find a more compressed version is like changing Adobe reader to open a larger pdf file.

I don't think the software is an issue here at all.
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!
