    Default Large project setup

Hey all....excited to be new to the forum and eager to learning from others here.

Have a question that lead me here. My company runs Revit Structure. We are starting on a project that contains multiple 4-5 story buildings all with a different floorplan/details. Putting these all together in a single file might be cumbersome and would limit who from our office can work on it at a time.

I believe the solution is to set up individual files for each building type and then link them into a central model that contains all of the sheets that will be published in the set. Does anyone agree with this approach or have another alternative that has worked in the past for them?

    Thanks!

Divide the model as early as possible.

    Label individual Buildings A, B, C, D, E

Divide each BIM model Building By Discipline.

    Building A:
    Structural Concrete
    Structural Steel
    Architectural Exterior
    Architectural Exterior
    Architectural Furniture
    Mechanical HVAC
    Mechanical Plumbing
    Mechanical Fire Protection
    Electrical
    Site

This type of setup equates to roughly 50 central files.

Consider using Navisworks to aid with coordination.
