Default Publish error: Error closing document

Ok, typical story, I'm the new CAD Manager-type guy in a new office, etc. Everyone is using AutoCAD Architecture 2008. We split out our CD drawings into multiple files but we still have multiple layout tabs in each file. Good so far? Good.

Now, one guy is trying to plot to DWF. He adds the files he needs to the publish dialog box and then plots. It DOES create the DWF but it will NOT close all the drawing files it opened. The user must do it himself. The plot log shows one error: "Error closing document." It has only been happening the last couple of weeks.

Doesn't happen on my computer but I'm still the new guy which means I don't even have the right CTB/STB file to use yet so we can't say my computer is typical of the other CAD computers.

I believed it is not just simple Autocad variable settings it is more on .net, profile etc.
