Default Company vs. User defined CTB files

Can anyone help me - we have a user who needs to create a new CTB file for a specific project, potentially a one off but we work with a company CTB file, the location which means it is not editable by our users. Can the user create this project specific CTB file (whether from scratch or modify our standard) and save it somewhere and then be able to access it?
I have not found a way of achieving this.

    All responses are greatly appreciated.

sure, that's very do-able. Simply save the ctb somewhere, and in Option, on the Files tab, make sure that location is identified under Printer Support File Path|Plot Style Table Search Path.

Then as step 2 - presuming of course that the user still wants/needs to be able to access the company CTB, create a shortcut in that folder that points to the company location.

At that point, the next time the user starts Acad he'll have access to his one-off CTB as well as all the company required ones.

and the simplest way to save the copy is to click the "edit" button alongside the ctb list and then click "save as". Make the edits and save.
