Default AutoCAD 2012 on Virtual Machines? HELP!!!!

The powers that be at my company drank the Kool-Aid the IT department has been serving, and they want to do a 'proof of concept' to try running AutoCAD 2012 on a virtual machine, despite our protests. Does anyone know of any problems that would prevent us from working this way? All of our projects are quite large and combine a mix of 2D and 3D content with a lot of reliance on xrefs. Can you help me make a compelling argument that will kill this idea before it gets to the trial phase?

Are they talking about you running cad on a vm running on the server, essentially virtual desktops? Or installing VM software on each workstation? the latter seems rather pointless, and the former is generally not permitted under the Adesk license tems. (well with the exception that you can get a special license to run Map3d on Citrix)

Other than that, it does not seem like a reasonable idea. Now, I've spent a littlle bit of time with local VMs, and am no expert, but I really don't see any advantage in production. In a school lab, where you want to wipe the OS & apps and restore fresh each class session, a local VM could be useful.

Running CAD on a VM on a server. Yes, a virtual desktop.

My biggest concern is that the functionality of hardware-accelerated graphics will be shot.

Wasn't aware of the license issue. Thanks, will kick that up the ladder.
