Default GI12-3: Mobile Computing at Munich Airport: from Cost-Benefit Analysis to Implementation

Instructors: Wolfgang Haller and Stephan Plabst

Class Description: Munich Airport International has been using CAD and GIS since 1990. This class describes recent efforts to implement mobile computing technologies, including Autodesk EnvisionTM and Tablet PCs, to support facility management and other business processes. We will discuss the cost/benefit approach we used to evaluate the technologies. We will also demonstrate with actual examples how these technologies, combined with AutoCAD, Autodesk MapGuide, GPS, and a wireless LAN, can be implemented to improve the management of airports and other large facilities.
