GS31-1: Enterprise Integration of Autodesk MapGuide at the City of Vancouver

Class Description: This non-technical presentation describes the City of Vancouver's approach to enterprise GIS and the role that MapGuide, Map, and Oracle Spatial play in that approach. MapGuide is used to provide three different versions of VanMap, and Map is used as our primary data-creation tool. The core is Oracle Spatial which is accessed on a live basis by both MapGuide and Map. We have also built a number of business applications on top of VanMap which provide a range of functionality for our staff. These include applications for notification, view preservation height calculations, cemetery viewing, custom mapping, thematic mapping, and query building, thereby expanding the role of VanMap from primarily a data-viewing environment to a dynamic business tool.
