    Default DV31-2: Lofty Expectations

    Instructor: Ted Boardman - tbdesign

Class Description: Lofting in 3ds Max 8 or VIZ 2007 is a modeling technique that has no peer in CAD software. Complex 3D objects can be quickly and efficiently created with two or more pieces of 2D geometry while providing easy editing and special material attributes. This session will help you overcome the simple, but often confusing, steps that cause new and experienced users to abandon this powerful modeling method. By learning the lofting workflow in this session, you'll be able to easily loft with the correct orientation, a high level of control and efficiency, and the ability to make major changes to the model easily. Lofting is the only production modeling technique that generates mapping coordinates allowing patterns to flow along the surface as it is edited. This makes lofting ideal for roadways and curbs, counters and cabinets, trim details, and curved wood railings, to name a few examples.
