Question How do I get rid of a ground plane?

I am a confessed lurker, but I have already learned much from these forums. I have a fairly simple rendering to do of a large project (3 buildings on a large lot) I have 2 topo surfaces which i want to show. Every time i start rendering the scene defaults to include a ground plane which is at 0 elevation (just slightly above my topo surfaces). I go into scene settings and uncheck ground plane but it still comes back. I have tried setting up several scenes but the same thing happens. I need to have this done and printed by morning! Anyone have any ideas?

Try saving the drawing (to a new name if you wish). Shutting down Revit and reopening the drawing. Also, delete the view completely that's giving you problems and recreate it. When you go to render, start a new scene. See if that works.

Thanks I'll try that, I have already restarted the computer several times but I didn't think of re-naming the file or trying a new view.

You shouldn't have to shut down the computer, but whatever you want. The main thing will probably be to delete the existing view and recreate it.

In your Render Settings, do you have the box checked for " Use Sun and Shadow Settings From View " ?

If you do, this will over-ride the render settings. Go to "Advanced Model Graphics" and check there that the Ground Plan is not set under Sun and Shadow Settings.

    I have tried:
    1. Saving the drawing as a new drawing
    2. Turning off the ground plane in rendering settings
    3. Creating new views and doing a new 3D View
It still has the infamous ground plane and no sidewalks, asphalt, site shown
If anyone has a cure I would appreciate it.

Uncheck *Ground Plane* in two places:

    1. Settings>Sun and Shadow Settings>Ground Plane
    2. Settings>Render Scene>Environment>Ground Plane

    That should do it...

Just set the ground plane down at any level below and it goes away.

Unhappy Re: How do I get rid of a ground plane?

Had this problem. unchecked in the two places and worked like a charm.
This is a bit confusing. All I can ask is WHY?
