Class Description: This session will give a step-by-step account of what it takes to successfully implement 3D object-oriented CAD into a 60-year-old, multidisciplinary environmental-consulting engineering firm. A key component of our success was a three-phase approach to software, hardware, and training purchases. Selected Phase 1 3D projects included a small water pump station in Atlanta, Georgia; a large water pump station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a fairly complex hypochlorate treatment facility in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and a pretreatment wastewater facility in High Point, North Carolina. For Phase 2, we produced a 3D building systems model of a 1.5-billion-dollar water-treatment facility for New York City. Phase 3 included a variety of projects including 25 miles of gravity and force main transmission lines.
