    Default AB404-1: Autodesk® Revit®: Beyond Documentation

Instructors: Jason M. Dougherty and Nicholas Wallin

Class Description: Architects began as master builders, became 2D draftsmen, and now, thanks to Building Information Modeling (BIM), have been given the opportunity to become Digital Craftsmen. Revit models are not only a means for faster, more accurate 2D documentation, but are an integral part of the design/build/supply life cycle. With digital formats, architects can step into fabrication and construction without having to document ideas in 2D for others to interpret and build. Data is the driving force behind everything from rapid prototyping of scale models, to full-scale plasma-cutting for steel, to aluminum extrusions for Curtain Walls. Through an examination of experimental work done in collaboration between Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects and Microsol Resources, an Autodesk Premier Solutions Provider, we will examine best practices for incorporating Revit Architecture into your design process earlier and methods for engaging your model with manufacturers, fabricators, and contractors.
