Class Description: Oracle Spatial helps break down the islands of information that inhibit workflow within organizations responsible for infrastructure and building throughout the entire life cycle: build, operate, and maintain. Oracle Spatial, with Autodesk's spatially enabled AutoCAD-based products, facilitates the replacement of the paper-based flow with electronic media. In addition, convergence is occurring in the architectural, engineering, construction, and geospatial disciplines. These advances drive business in the construction and facilities management industry by improving the performance of facilities over their full life cycle through infrastructure management, emergency response, and urban planning. In the first portion of this session, we’ll introduce a data-management feature in Oracle Spatial that increases the value while reducing the cost of 3D solutions and how application developers can use this new platform for handling 3D surface models, point clouds, and city models in enterprise applications. In the second part of this session, we’ll illustrate how Autodesk 3D visualization tools enable the convergence of model-driven design, Building Information Modeling, CAD, geospatially enabled relational-database management systems (RDBMS), and other geospatial data sources to support seamless 3D visualization and analysis. And lastly, we’ll demonstrate and discuss practical applications of integrated Autodesk/Oracle Spatial solutions in the utility sector.
