Default GV114-1: GIS and Emergency Response: Expand Your GIS Data to Save Lives

Instructors: Adam Jonasson and Jon Hansen

Class Description: See how GIS can be used to aid in emergency response including school violence, fires, chemical spills, and severe weather. This session will introduce you to Autodesk Crisis Command. We'll stress the value of emergency response mapping tools, as well as highlight the processes involved with implementing, maintaining, and getting departmental buy-in for Crisis Command. Technical issues will cover GIS layer conversion, building preplanning, wireless connectivity, mass notification, and flexibility of current and future usage. The successful implementation of Crisis Command in the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota, will be used as both a training model and success case study.
