    Default Project Tabs?

I have another wish for a future release of Revit..."Project Tabs." It would be really nice, rather than having to use the "window" drop down menu to switch between projects/views, there were some tabs that would allow you to quickly pick from the currently open projects (each project having it's own tab. The perfect location for this would be as part of the project browser. Maybe it could work similar to the tool bar...

I am actually thinking the perfect place for them is in the "project browser" probably as another level of hierarchy in the "tree" or it could use buttons like the toolbar (the one on the left of the Revit window) that move up and down to reveal the view tree of the selected project. To me anyways, this is the ideal location because, likely, the first thing you will do after switching projects is switch your view of that project...

I am a huge fan of screen real estate. Nonetheless, this is such a great idea that I am willing to give up a little screen space to make it work. I would recommend putting the tabs anywhere else except the project browser which is already too crowded as it is. I like putting the tabs on top of the scroll bars - perhaps the vertical scroll bar.

above the scrollbars would probably work. What about just another drop down menu? Maybe the window menu should just list the windows in the current project and there would just be another pulldown for project. Or the window menu could just list the open projects as flyouts that would then list the windows in the project... maybe that's too many steps... Just throwing out some ideas.

I agree that the project browser already has enough in it...

    My (other) $.02

Without a poll? Seems like a good idea to me as well. Especially if you could have tabs for families. Family tabs could pose problems though since you couldn't load the family if it is still open. Perhaps a family tab could be coded to save the file for loading when you switch to another tab. Clicking on the family tab would then automatically reopen the family file.

what about this? See attached image. The top menu bar of the browser could have some new controls. I envision the side arrows scrolling back and forth to previous/next projects, while the drop-down arrow would drop a list of open projects to select from.

Simple, easy, doesn't take up any screen real estate!
