Class Description: Due to file size and load times we hear that we should not use Nested families, unless they are absolutely necessary. But what are those “absolutely necessary” reasons? This session explores the reasons and process of creating shared nested families. We will start off with an overall understanding of the differences between nested and shared nested families; have a look at the file size and loading issues. Then we will create some shared nested families, starting with a hand basin.
After creating these “furniture systems” we can then place them in the project. Once in the project, we can see how the family parameters, visibility graphics and family types can assist with providing a better experience for the end user that is more consistent and more efficient.
