Default I want to open AutoCAD drawings in AC2014 from a website

I am setting up a website which has available some AutoCAD DWG files.
I want the user to be able to click on a link and have the drawing open in AutoCAD 2014.
JPEG files and MP4s open in their relative software but DWGs bring up a blank page in IE10.

Is there some setting in AutoCAD 2014 I have missed?

The settings are in your web site and browers, or were years ago when I set up my own web page years ago. You may want to take a look at AutoCAD 360 and see if that does what you want/need for sharing dwg files in the cloud.

I have a morbid dread of the Cloud. I will never know who is reading my mail

However, I will see what I can find in my host. I would have thought that what works for an MP4 should work for a DWG.

    Thanks anyway

There's another few options which might bear looking into.

One is viewing a DWF of the file instead of the original DWG content; this can be done in IE. The DWG can still be provided for download, which would be done anyways for when AutoCAD is launched to view the DWG file.

Not everybody has AutoCAD, or a version new enough to read any given DWG format, so some consideration should also be given to using TrueView to view DWG files. Aside from version compatibility, auto-linking DWG format with AutoCAD is not necessarily a good thing due to the number of products which can open it (Map3D, Mechanical, Civil3D to name a few), and the number of third-party applications which can be installed on top of AutoCAD (AutoPLANT, AVEVA P&ID, and so on). Its possible to open a DWG file with something which will automatically manipulate (and potentially break) the drawing content.
