Default Curved+sloped floor hatch patterns are warped

    Hello everyone,

We're a landscape architecture firm using Revit to model a fully-graded site with landscaping. All of our surfaces are floors so we can cut sections. Our problem is as follows:

When we are modelling floors that have a curved boundary edge and modify the sub-elements to grade the floor properly, the surface hatch pattern becomes warped. This happens for both model and drafting hatch patterns:

Additionally, you can see that the hatch pattern for areas with straight edges are all at different angles - other than rotating and aligning the hatch patterns manually, is there a way to have a consistent, aligned hatch pattern? (Almost like a "projected" hatch pattern?)

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    - Audric

    Hi Audric,

I am experiencing this same problem that you mentioned of the pattern warping with both model and drafting patterns. Were you ever able to resolve this problem or get to a practical and workable solution?

Any insights you might have would be greatly appreciated!
Also well done for being a landscape architecture firm using Revit in 2013 . Pioneers.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

Yes, seen this. Needs fixing at the factory. Work around, remove hatch from floor slab, use filled regions with hatch to control alignment. (wont work for curved patters, would have to use detail lines.)

I have added a wish to the wish list for this item. UV mapping for materials and associated fill patterns is needed. Or just the ability to lock patterns rotations.

In the meantime what i do is create a slab with all the required falls. Then add split lines to the slabs to get workable triangulation which will allow you to use the align tool for the patterns. Won't work for every section though, especially when curves are involved so you may have to manually rotate those sections. Not a fun job!
I have also looked at dynamo forums to see if anyone has a work around for this but without joy. So i would be very interested if anyone else has a good work around.
The idea above for blank slabs with drafting fills over is fine for plans but when you need to coordinate in 3d or try and render, you will be trouble again.
