Question How to link an excel spreadsheet

I have a standard excel spread sheet that I use to do some electrical calculations for me for a majority of the jobs I work on.

I like the look that I have of my excel spread sheet.

However when I link that spread sheet into a table everything gets screwed up and I spend a good amount of time fixing the table.

Is there any easy way to link the excel spreadsheet to a table so that I don't have to edit the table format every time?

    Thanks for the help.

Why not save the Table Style to your drawing template (once formatted), so it's available to you in all new drawings?

Ahh... so bring the excel file in once and get it formatted to look correctly and then save that table as a template.

I dont know why I didnt think of that.

    Thank you.

So I am revisiting this thread I started with a new issue that I have been trying to figure out.

So I have my table all formatted correctly the way that I want it to look like in CAD. I set the Table Style I want to use current and then I select the From a Data Link to insert my excel file. However when I select the From Data Link, my table styles changes to something weird.

I cant figure out what I am missing to import the excel file into the correct table.

Ok... So basically what I have done is insert the table that I want to use into CAD that is formatted correctly, my borders shown right, fonts shown right, etc.

I select the table, right click and select the option Data Link, I go threw the same routine to add a Data Link to the table.

Bringing in the Data link this way holds the table format correctly until it reaches the end of the table. Any additional information is still brought in but the new rows lose the table formatting.

    Question:

How do you get the table to automatically format the table (border colors, etc.) when additional rows are needed then what is setup in the template?
