Annotate Graphic Scale Block by Viewport scale

I have a basic graphic scale block we place on drawings in paper space.
It doesn't need to be dynamic in the sense of resizing it.

What I would like to do is annotate it by the scale assigned to a viewport.
Say the viewport scale is 1"=50', if I could ID the viewport as the graphic scale block is being placed, the fields, as it were, would be filled in based on that scale.

BTW, using AutoCAD Civil3D 2014.
Looked at the bar scales from the ribbon and graphically I don't like them.

It's possible; we have such as thing, but we use lisp code to drive the dynamic block (i.e.: set the scale to the scale of the viewport).

Can you not simply populate the scale bar with a FIELD, which references the Viewport Object itself, using the Standard Scale Property, etc?

This could be saved as part of your template, and be linked from QNEW, no?
