How do you use "X & Y" ordinate dimensions with Revit?

Not available in Revit as far as I know. All dimenioning is relative.

You can get a 'spot coordinate' by using the spot elevation tool and checking the spot coordinate box on the option bar. Not sure what degree of accuracy you require but I don't believe you can snap to a point or intersection.

Thanks that did it and I was able to snap to objects; but they give you both the "X & Y" co-ordinates in the label. Would be nice if I could select one or the other and not have both of them.
Many times you want to have running dimensions on a plan to locate walls and columns from the 0",0" origin of a building. Especially on a concrete building.

Edit the type and customize it to your heart's content. Don't forget to use "Specify Coordinates at a Point" to decide where the origin goes.

Trying to create ordinate dimensions found this thread. I have not been able to find the Specify Coordinates at a point under editing the type of a Spot co-ordinate any pointers would be appreciated. Using Revit 8.1

Thanks Dimitri for the pointer that helped.

One more question haven't been able to adjust the leader dimension line or extension line from the spot co-ordination point. I would like the leader not to touch the point, know there has to be a way to set this property. Any pointers? Thanks again for the help.

In order to work properly the actual spot has to be on the object (makes sense right?).
If you open the spot elevation family the intersection of the vertical and horizontal lines is the spot Revit uses to get the level. Modify those lines changing them to invisible lines then you should be able to get it to behave the way you want. Save it as a different type of spot eleavtion tag by modifying the type properties after you edit it.
