Default Object Enablers - aeccland for AutoCAD 2004

I've been trying to figure out how to view AEC objects (aeccland100 objects, specifically) in AutoCAD 2004. I can see the objects in DWG TrueView 2014, but when I convert the dwg to 2004, they are back to proxy boxes. When I try to appload aeccland.dbx, the dialog box says that it is unable to load it. It's not clear from the AutoDesk website exact which enabler I should be using, or how it should function - I've taken a couple of stabs at it, but have no results. Any good suggestions?

You should be using the enabler for the product and version which created the content e.g. Civil3D 2014. Note that these won't install on all versions, especially as far back as AutoCAD 2004.

Backwards compatibility is not a profitable endeavor for a software vendor to indulge in. If you could work with C3D objects in 2004, what's the incentive to upgrade?
