I didn't know there was a difference in the Mac Vs. Windows DWG file format.
Could it be that your Mac files are a newer DWG version and it's not a Mac vs. Windows thing?

second question -- how are you sending them? email? dropbox? ftp?
Mac and windows versions DWG files are the same. There shouldn't be an issue due to this difference. Make sure your version is not newer than your instructors. I have a Macbook Pro and run AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and can go back and forth between Windows AutoCAD 2014 with nu issue.
