    Default Import ASCII (.ASC) file

I am use to receiving .txt files for survey points. I have a .ASC file. When I try to import this file using the correct format of P,N,E,Z,D comma delimited format I am only seeing about 30 of the 250 points in the .ASC file.

    1) Can I convert the .ASC file to a .txt file?

I am sure that all the points are P,N,E,Z,D comma delimited.

    2) How would I import .ASC?

Since you've not posted a sample, I'm unsure of you .ASC file content's format, however, you should check to see what point groups exist in the drawing where you're performing the import... Sounds like they're being imported, and are not visible due to your Point Group settings.

As an example, in Toolspace, right click on the Points node, and select 'Select' from the context menu... This will select all COGO Points within your drawing (including any that may have existed prior to your import).

to convert, just change the extension. an ascii file _is_ a text file.

I'll suggest that, if you're unable to post the point file, to look at it in a text editor, Notepad, Notepad++, Edlin, etc, and make sure that all the information is correct, and that there are no oddities or unexpected line breaks actually in the file..

FYI, I import points routinely into drawings and survey databases using .ASC files; whatever problem you're having with your file, it's not the fact that it's a .ASC.

I second BlackBox in suggesting you check your point group hierarchy. Also, look at Points in Prospector to verify your problem; Prospector will show you ALL the points in your drawing regardless of how your point groups may be ordered.

It was just a simple issue. The Import Points dialogue box I was expecting a preview of all points in the Notepad (.ASC). When I moved fwd with the import it brought all points in. I am not sure why the preview didn't show but 20 of the points but all came in.

Thanks for all the input Guys.
