Question IMPORTING TREE FROM AUTODESK SEEK TO 3D MAX

    Hi there,
I'm trying to import FBX files I have downloaded from Autodesk SEEK to 3d max since 3dmax can not recognize the RPC families from Revit ( I am modeling in Revit and trying to figure out the right way to render and animate in 3d max ) But when placing that trees in my 3d max model - materials are missing. Any ideas ?

Question Re: IMPORTING TREE FROM AUTODESK SEEK TO 3D MAX

Hmm...its always worked for me from Seek. They're the xFrog brand right? Are the materials missing AND the material assignments missing? (i.e. 4 material types but missing maps) I've had the issue of missing materials, but I usually just relink new maps to the individual assignments. Have you just tried using the stock 3dsmax trees? Oak, Japanese Maple, Amer. Elm? I know, I know, not much selection, however clicking on "New Seed" helps to break up the trees from being identical. (see attached image)
If not, try bringing the xFrog tree into a clean, new 3dsMax file. Delete the cameras it brings in, the sky portal (if applicable), file save as, new name. Merge that new 3dsmax2014 file into your other scene/file and see what happens.
If nothing else works, let me know, there's probably another way...

Thank you for your reply - It seems like the materials appears while rendering in Mental Ray but become grey in I ray - find attached - Since I'm rendering am animation mental ray is not an option ( too long ) Does anyone know a way to make tree material work in Iray ?
