    Default User Interface Locking

    Hi all,

Just started tinkering around with 2015 and I cannot find where the button is to lock and unlock the user interface. I know it can be controlled with the LOCKUI variable, but I want to be able to show my students how to do this using a button. It used to be in the status bar and the help menu states it is still there but i cannot find it there.

    Any help is appreciated.

Also very disappointed that Autodesk chose to ignore all of the beta tester feedback and not allow users to toggle the text names for the status bar icons. As an AutoCAD instructor, showing my students how to make the icons show as text is one of the first things I show them as there is no confusion over what is what with text vs icons.

    Thanks,
    Billy

I don't have 2015 in front of me, but, it seems there's a button down on the status bar (maybe an icon that looks like a paragraph? just going from memory) to toggle on a slew of buttons that are hidden by default.

That is in the far lower right and I checked it first thing but it's not in there. I'm stumped.

Whoops, sorry. That's a bit weird in that case.

The help for LOCKUI says there is one but I can't see it either.

I was looking into this and noticed another huge problem.

I found the little icon in the lower right to enable or disable status bar elements, and I turned them all ON.

Now I cannot get back to that icon to turn some of them off, because no matter what size I make the AutoCAD main window, I can't see the icons on the right edge of the status bar.
Even fully maximized, the last one I can fully see is "Hardware Acceleration", but I can tell there is at least one more icon to it's right.
I fooled around with it some more, minimizing, resizing, maximizing, etc., and eventually I could see part of (then later, the entire) "Trusted DWG" icon in the status bar.
Now I can even see the "Isolate Objects" tooltip when I hold the cursor all the way to the right edge of the screen, so I know that is there too.

To me that is a fairly obvious bug. You should never lose the one control that controls all of the other icons, and for that matter, the icons that are present should never fall off the right end of the status bar.

BTW: This is on a Dell monitor running the native 1280x1024 resolution, which is greater than the minimum specs: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/suppor...oCAD-2015.html

After some more testing, I moved the cursor near 0,0 and set the units to NO decimal places and then the "Customize" icon finally came into view.
That is because I had enabled the coordinates area of the status bar and as it grew to show more and more decimal places (it was only set to 2), it pushed the status bar icons off the screen to the right.

If you set the resolution to 1024x768 (the minimum supported) and have the coordinates enabled to 8 places, about 1/3 of the status bar gets shoved OFF the screen.
