Detached Revit Local File - (Anyway to reattach or copy worksets over to central file)

Scenario is:

We have been bought into a project that has not been set up correctly before work has commenced.

- Revit Server - 6 draftsman - different offices.
- Due to problems with the set up, we have detached a local file in order to create scope box zones, views and sheets.
- We have made no amendments to the mechanical model itself, although 4 of the draftsman have still been beavering away on their own locals still attached to the central on the server.

The question is...... Is there anyway of reattaching our detached model to the central? or bringing over the scope boxes, views and sheets created in the detached model?

We may have been given a bum steer in thinking we could prior to detaching and completing our work.

Your thoughts and expertise would be appreciated. We cannot use our model to recreate a new central being that the other four have been working on the model itself.

No way to re-attach a detached model. You do have a few options though.

In some cases you can Copy/Paste the work from one model to another as long as both are open in the same Revit session. That because a running session of Revit uses its own Operating System space for its clipboard. If you run two sessions of Revit they each have their own clipboard which eliminates the chance to paste between.

You could use Load as Group. You select the model and Revit creates a model group within the project. You can then edit the Group and use remove from Group to extract the things you want in the main project. It would be better to strip out the detached model so it has only the things you really want to recover in it. It will take less time to load and work on.

You can also create a group with the elements you need to extract first and Save that as a Group (external file) that can then use Load as Group to bring it "back" into your main project.

A linked file can use Bind, which turns it into a Group which can then be edited like above. Same recommendation for stripping the model down to just what you want to recover.

Last, you can just have that person recreate the missing stuff in the main project...if you're feeling grouchy and want to teach the person who went off and did important stuff in a detached file.
