    Default view flood areas?

I've got a surface built from lidar contours, and thee agency wants to see flood stages at three different elevations. Ideally with the flooded area shown in a blue color or a hatch pattern.

I've tried simply having a hatch at an elevation, with the lidar shown as elevation, but no joy -- any ideas on how to do this?

Try building a new surface with a plane at the desired elevation, larger than the existing surface, and use the MINIMUMDISTANCEBETWEENSURFACES Command to extract polylines of where the two surfaces intersect, and then hatch accordingly.

To expedite the latter, you can always Right Click Hatch if you like.

I'll give that a shot next.

what I ended up doing was setting s surface style to show contours & elevation, with the elevation set up to use the Land scheme, and display type of Mesh.

then created 3dfaces at the flood elevation (s), and used shademode Realistic.

Looks pretty - what's the total surface area of the resultant flood areas?

yeah -- this trick won't give me that. it also tends to cut off the contour label -- since part actually covered by the triangle. but it is pretty.

I'll let their surface water model generate numbers.
