    Post FLATSHOT block scaling

I've got some 3d Solids that I am trying to take a FLATSHOT of that when inserted as a block no longer retains the original geometry lengths. My process is the following:

    1)Flatshot command,
    -Insert as New Block (Destination)
    -uncheck "show" under Obscured Lines
    -then click create
    2) Once created it asks for insertion point, I click on location
    - enter 1 for the X scale Factor
    - press enter for Y scale factor to use the X scale Factor
    - press enter for 0 rotation angle

I will note that when I create this I'm usually in some ISO view chosen from the viewcube and I'm also inserting the block without changing view. I've tried changing view to "top" prior to clicking the insertion point but in either instance the scaling is off.

    Thanks for the help!

    -Dave

    Default Re: FLATSHOT block scaling

    Dave,

Projecting an isometric view to a flat plane will not maintain <some> line lengths. Consider that a 3D line projecting from the screen will have a length that is the delta of its origin to its termination in x,y,z. Now when you flatten that line to a 2D plane you will lose one of those coordinates and the resulting line will lose its true length.
