When you select File, at the bottom of the list is the 9 most recent drawings that were open. when I select the one I want it never goes to that drawing, it opens a completely different drawing. any ideas what's going on?

This sounds like the recent files in the "File" pull-down menu.
Does it do the same thing if you choose a file from the Application Menu?

currently I have all 9 slots pinned to drawings on the application menu. it's the file pull down menu that is the problem.

I would change your Application Menu number (under options) to be more then 9, and see if you will get different results. I have mine set to 20, you can go as high as 50.
