Default MA122-2: Techniques for Factory Layout Development

    Instructor: Jason Hosch

Class Description: This course will explore and contrast current and future methods of developing factory layouts. We will explore how 2D AutoCAD® drawings are used to develop facility layouts. We will cover block creation techniques that enable not only layout development but layout analysis with several end customers in mind, including factory management and various construction groups. The use of dynamic blocks has greatly improved the ability to turn tribal knowledge into CAD-based layout rules. We will also discuss how the transition to 3D layouts, using digital prototyping techniques, will drastically change the way information is developed and communicated through enhanced visualization and the ability to turn digital prototypes of manufacturing facility layouts into an effective BIM model by manufacturing companies.
