Properties palette width won't stay set

I have to frequently make the properties palette wider to a value of 250 to read layer names, etc. However the width does not retain the value. I have to enter the cui to reset width to desired value constantly. I even go back to the cui and set the value to zero (autocad indicates this is equivalent to saying do not change the value. So why doesn't the width of the properties palette stay at 250?

In the same vein, my quick access toolbar will not stay anchored below the ribbon for very long, and I have to chase the tools back down frequently. Why? How can I keep the quick access toolbar below the ribbon?

This *should* be workspace related; just set up your UI the way you like, save your workspace, set it as default, and be mindful to not enable 'Automatically save workspace changes' in WORKSPACE Command's SEttings.

I had not saved the workspace changes. I have now done so. I have disabled 'Automatically save workspace changes'. Hopefully this wil eliminate the issues I've been having. Thanks for your help!
