Segment Label Style for Object Data

I am currently downloading soils data online, using "mapimport" to bring the soil lines into civil 3d and then using "mapanninsert" to generate labels for the lines to show the soil types.
This uses the object data brought in through the "mapimport" command.
Is there any way to create a segment label style that labels a line based upon object data of that line?

You can not use OD values fir Civil3D labels with out some customizing. However you can create the Map annoblocks "look" like the C3D labels or any way you want with a few tricks.

Murph is the expert here, but I wanted to throw this out...
Presuming your data is a SHP file, have you tried dragging+dropping the SHP file into the editor to make an FDO connection?
