Renaming Data Shortcuts

We have a large number of data shortcuts in our project. One of our CAD operators suggested renaming them with a number in front so they will be better organized. Before we proceed down that path, I wanted to see if anyone else has done this? What are some of the issues you ran into? What worked? What didn't work? If it worked, what was the procedure you used? Any information is helpful. And by the way, we are running C3D 2015.

You can rename them. I would Validate Shortcuts after you are finished renaming them. Then go to each drawing where these data shortcuts are referenced to update the reference names. Civil 3D should prompt you to verify the names when opening these drawings.
