Default Excel Datalink cell text format

Oh no not this old chestnut again - Sorry yes it is!

I have an Excel table which I have data linked and inserted into my drawing and I want to change the text format (removing the datalink is ok) for the whole table. Our corp font for all drawings is ISO3098b.SHX and is not supported by Excel.

Now I know I can click the more options button when I create the datalink

and clear the CELL FORMATTING check box

However I need to keep the cell formatting as all the cells are filled and colour (color) coded, unchecking the formatting removes the colour coding too...

Hold on, I hear you say "why dont you select all the cells and change the font in the properties box?"
To which I reply, I can do that but it has no effect on the actual text in the cells. The font appears to be set at a text entity level and not the cell level so even if I set the cells to have the correct style (ISO3098b) the text still has the font assigned to it in Excel (Arial).

So I need to keep the Excel formatting but remove the character formatting (ctrl+space) from each cell (93 rows by 31 columns). Is there any way to do this programmatically?
