    Default Simulate Palette Block Insertion

    Hey All

Is there a way of simulating the pallet block insertion so I can insert a block with a preview at the cursor and have its desired properties set at the preview?

currently if I use -insert and pause for user input it comes in with the block's default properties.

    Cheers

What version are you using? Using -insert works for me in 2013. Everything in my block is set to byblock though. If they were set to color red and dashed linetype the block would insert red and dashed.

It appears to me from the description, the source block may be a dynamic block, thus the -insert will not show the desired view.

My apologies, I forgot to mention that.
Yes the block is dynamic and it inserts in its initial state.
what I want to simulate is the settings in the palette that allow you to insert a block with a specific visibility state or property already set.

I am sure it is possible to use that pipe to insert blocks...

Another simpler way is to create a block wrapper around the dynamic block in the configuration you want to insert it at.

Then insert the wrapper block *MyBlock1 and it comes in with the right configuration.

I understand, that it s clever work around.
    Cheers Peter.
I am still curious about the process of the palette functionality and preview and if it can be utilized.

I'll ask the goofy question... why re-invent the wheel? Palette's work well, and easily port from version to version.

Not a goofy question at all mate.
I am writing a program to assist with speaker layouts in rooms, it will place speakers at a calculated array through the room determined by the input.
I want to build functionality into it to allow for a single placements at the cursor for ease of use and quick modification.
