Default Utility To Convert Civil3D To AutoCAD For AutoCAD Users

I would think by now there should have been a utility for AutoCAD users, to install in AutoCAD,
to be able to convert a Civil3D file to 'regular' AutoCAD; (without looking for a Civil3D owner
and where you can't track who the original file in Civil3D came from).

    Thanks.

You probably already know there is are object enablers available so that you can VIEW Civil 3D objects in AutoCAD.

You could always download Civil 3D and do it yourself for 30 days. Yea, I know, not really an option, but maybe that will help someone looking for a one time fix.

Yep, I have Object Enabler. It does not work for the errors I have been having. I would have to ask my co-worker (with Civil3D)
to convert the drawings. It works. But it seem to be happening a lot now where a separate utility would have worked.

When I open an old project, it seem to happen so the 30-day won't work.

    Thanks though.

Have you tried the DWG TrueView package? Though that might require you to drop back to a lower version of the DWG format.

I'd suggest you add this as a Wishlist item -- noit just foir C3D, but for _all_ AEC verticals. Something that intelligently stripped out the vertical objects would be helpful all around.

Trueview won't convert the AEC objects to native AutoCAD entities, even with the object enabler installed.

And... there already is an application to do this; Civil 3D.

File specifications should be discussed/negotiated up front between firms, long before files start trading hands, to avoid such issues.

    Hi
Have you tried asking the person with Civil3D to export the dwg back to you. This will explode all the AEC objects into primitives so you can see them but they are no intelligent Objects ( and I use that term very loosely).
