Default Formatting Issues when linking to Excel

I am attempting to populate a title block in AutoCAD LT 2015 by linking to an Excel spreadsheet that is also used to populate the same information in our MS Word documents. I have created several single cell Data Links and checked "Convert data formats to text, solve formulas in Excel" and unchecked "Use Excel formatting". Under properties, I have set text style, height, colour, etc., changed the Data type to "Text" and set the Format to "Uppercase". When I update the Data Links, all of my formatting holds except the "Uppercase" which reverts to whatever is in Excel. What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to convert the case of the text without overwriting the cells contents? (That is the warning I get when I update). Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Although it is available under format, upper and lower case use different characters from a font which is probably causing the issue, I would approach this problem in Excel and not Autocad by having a second cell in Excel that uses the uppercase function, for example "=upper(A1)" and then use this cell in your datalink.
