Question Inputting numerous co-ordinates from excel files

    Hello all,

Apologies for the large title, but my current dilemma involves inputting vast amounts of co-ordinate (x,y,z) data into existing scheme drawings to show actual ground levels. Is there a simple way to take the column data from excel and run it into AutoCAD 2005, then show the (z) co-ordinate as text. My only current solution is to use MX Moss to convert the data into dxf. files and import it that way. I am assuming that there must be a more direct route available to me using AutoCAD?

Any help will be greatly received.

    Hi Adam,

    try this, LandSculptor from caddepot.

    http://www.caddepot.com/cgi-bin/down...ndSculptor.zip

    Description:
Land Sculptor is a contouring and 3D surface mapping program for AutoAD 2000 that quickly and easily converts your data into contours, surfaces, and solids.

    New features:
    • Input from
      • X,Y,Z - comma and space delimited ASCII files
      • Label, X, Y, Z - comma and space delimited ASCII files
      • AutoCAD text entities X, Y of text(text as elevation)
      • AutoCAD block reference - X, Y, Z.
    • Import X, Y, Z comma delimited ASCII files to AutoCAD points
    • Import X, Y, Z comma delimited ASCII files to AutoCAD texts
    • Import ArcView shapefiles.
Should help. but you will have to export or <save as> your xls to txt file to be input as ASCII's

Thanks Steve for the link to LandSculptor and Mike for the thread to "Creating points from Excel Data sheets" was very helpful for inputting the raw data as lines.

Am currently working on my IT Manager to allow me to download the AutoLISP file from CADalyst to allow me to add (z) co-ordinates so it all makes sense!

    Thanks again.
    Adam
