Default The text in the Mtext editor is faint and very hard to read.

This problem is usually caused by the font smoothing option in Windows 2000 and XP.

To turn this option off, right click on an empty area of your desktop and go to properties.

In Windows 2000, go to the effects tab and click off "Smooth edges of screen fonts".

In Windows XP, go to the "Appearance" tab. Click on the "Effects" button. There check off "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts".
