Default CR320-1C: Aspects and Considerations of Using Revit® for 4D/5D BIM Construction

    Session: CR320-1C

Title: Aspects and Considerations of Using Revit® for 4D/5D BIM Construction

    Instructor: Kevin Yu

Course Description: Contractors use different scheduling and estimating software with different cost databases. Therefore, for 4D scheduling and 5D estimating, BIM data created by designers could be considered incomplete or inappropriate. Additionally, if Revit is used, the design data will be complex with multi-directional interrelationships, Revit-specific concepts and terminologies, and often with standards (e.g. family types and parameters) only meaningful to the design company. One challenge in implementing BIM construction processes is how to understand such models, and thus to develop a protocol to validate the data, connect them automatically to cost databases, and eventually use them for 4D/5D. This class discusses a number of aspects and issues involved in using Revit for a BIM construction process, and it will be useful for all construction companies implementing such a process.
