    Session: ED316-1

Title: Using BIM for Experiential Learning in the High School: Environmental Technology and Design

Instructors: David Redding with Damen Schuneman and Mike Wierusz

Course Description: The Northshore School District has teamed up with McKinstry Co, a regional mechanical contractor and energy services provider, and Cascadia Community College's newly developed Environmental Technology and Sustainable Practices Program leaders, to design and build an educational program that teaches students about building systems and design. This class focuses on how the Environmental Technology & Design (ETD) program has come to life and highlights the key elements of this first-of-its-kind program for secondary education. We will cover the ETD course description and outline; describe collaborative learning opportunities with post-secondary institutions; review lesson plans that use Autodesk® Revit® MEP, Autodesk Ecotect®, and energy modeling software; discuss mobile infrastructure components; and highlight campus features that enable science experiments as well as methods to track building systems data.
