Title: Hydraulic Analysis of Fire Protection Systems: A Basic Primer
Instructor: Alan Johnston
Course Description: Building Information Modeling (BIM) has demonstrated the value of integrating analysis of individual building systems with the tools used in the design process. The fire sprinkler system requires rigorous analysis to ensure its proper application as a critical life-safety component of the building. The class outlines the underlying mathematical equations and basic engineering assumptions prescribed by standards for fire sprinkler system analysis and design. The class presents the formulas used to account for the pressures required to overcome discharge from a particular sprinkler orifice, friction loss through the pipe and fittings, and vertical elevation.
