Select the block then right click and choose "edit in the drawing"

Interesting follow up.... Both steven-g's and clement.ribot's blocks work perfectly when using the right click edit block in place command. Two different solutions. Thanks again everyone.

So to follow up, your problem with the attribute was a double-click on the block started the attribute editor instead of refedit? That would have been pertinent information in the original post.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

If needed, ASM78, you can customize your dble-clicks on blocks in the CUI command to start the refedit command instead of attribute editor. And you'll use CTRL+dble click to start the attribute editor.

    Edit the block,
    --Add Attribute,
    ----Preset = True,
    ----Insert Field,
    -------Field Names: Block Place Holder,
    -------Block Reference Property: Name,
    -------( The resulting field Expr.: %<\AcObjProp.16.2 Object(?BlockRefId,1).EffectiveName>% )
