Default Fix "Broken", Random Looking Hatch Patterns - MurrayC

Have you ever placed a Hatch Pattern (like concrete) only to discover the pattern has taken on a random "exploded" appearance?

Or, how about when you are hatching an exterior wall elevation with a brick pattern only to discover the first course of brick along the bottom has been cut off?

Here's a trick to fix existng random looking hatch patterns

    1. Enter the SNAPBASE command, and when prompted to enter a value, simply pick a new definition point near the pattern. For example, with regard to the concrete hatch pattern, simply pick somewhere within where the pattern is. For the brick hatch pattern, pick a point where you want the bottom row of bricks to start.

2.Once you have defined a new base point for your hatch pattern, simply Double-Click on the existing hatch pattern, and when the HATCHEDIT dialog box appears, just click the OK button.

    That's it!

You should notice your pattern has now redefined itself so that it doesn't look as random.

Let me know how this works for you.

I hear 2006 has made this much easier. I currently use 2005 Land Enabled Map and you can use the right click menu to set the SNAPBASE anywhere you need it; I think this is similar to to 2006. Maybe a Rio beta tester will chime in and give some insight.
